Okay, I got this idea from Matgeuse after seeing his Beetlejuice post earlier today. Uhm...Well, I definitely gotta fave Grundel! I mean...he's not really evil, it's just, if he wants something badly enough, he's veeery persistent! v_v And he's got bug-eyes! That's BIG points for him!!! Well, so does Berkeley, technically, but that's not what I mean...XD Uh, you gotta admit...he DID stick up for Thumbelina...He pounded Beetle's head and squished his foot, when he made the big mistake of saying, "She's an ugly type. I don't like ugly!" And he DID risk his life to fight a skilled swordsman for her hand...Unfortunately, I hadn't until very recently(you might say the night before last) learned that Grundel wasn't killed after falling off the bridge. vv *thanks NeitherSparky again for posting end credits* ^^ I mean I first saw that movie since before I can remember! And I've watched it many a time since then, but I never knew...Anywho, I do not believe Grundel to be a 'bad guy'. For example...After Cornelius also made the big mistake of provoking him with, "Come on, gimme your best shot!", as he lay half unconscious on the bridge, Grundel could've very easily run the prince through with his own sword. v_v However, he simply chuckled, although somewhat maliciously , and tossed the weapon aside, including the torch. vv Also, evidently in the end credits, he kept his end of the bargain and returned Berkeley's wings, which I'm still sure wouldn't be of much use, having been detached from his back! XD And he's not completely stubborn(although what's wrong with that?), because he took the...well...he can't rightfully be called insect, having only four appendages...bug's advice and found himself a 'pretty toad with warts'! ^_^ I just view him as a 'family man'. Poor thing's father's gone and his brothers tease him without restraint(though his bros are tied for my second fave). His ma, apparently, spends time with him, but it might not be so frequent. I don't think Gringo and Mozo despise him either(I don't believe Grundel would really want them to 'go away'), they're just boys! Most young brothers tease and taunt for amusement, but that's another post. I'll try not to ramble on so, as I have managed to do already...again...X) Oh, and NeitherSparky, I apologize, if I have exceeded the limit for a post! I'll make my next one shorter, if I did! Oo GRUNDEL ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

There's no limit for posts, not if you actually have something to say. Grundel's my favorite too, but I do think he is rather a "bad guy". I wrote him in such a way to suit myself in my fanfic and make him more sympathetic, I know I wasn't being presisely canon. I do think he was willing to kill Cornelius in the film, though he's such a showman he wasn't able to just go ahead and do it quickly! It's also hard to tell if he's stupid or not. Most people say he is, but I disagree, I think he's just...slow. Like he takes his time deciding on stuff, but he's of average intelligence. Except he can be excitable, and that makes him act on impulse sometimes (like hitting Beetle). Anyways, while I do think Grundel is a "bad guy," I don't think he's exactly evil, which makes him a good antagonist for such a "cutsie" story. I mean, Mama Toad is more selfish, and Mrs Fieldmouse...oh man. She's the closest thing to evil in the movie. Mole is a hard-nosed man, but not purely malicious. And Beetle's too much of a fly-by-night flimflam man to be considered "evil."

| First of all, I'm happy to not have exceeded a limit! ^_^ Though, I'm not one to ramble...Oh, wait... Never mind! >_< XD Yeah, I guess, in the sense of trying to force Thumbelina to marry him, Grundel is a 'bad guy'. v_v But I still agree that he's not particularly evil. I really LOVED him him in your fanfic too, and I actually thought you did pretty good keeping with the movie!!! ^_^ I still don't think he would've killed Cornelius, but I guess we'll never know! =\ Too bad...A sequel might've been nice...'Course, it also could've ruined the storyline, as so many other sequels have done...And Grundel's original voice actor has passed away, and I don't like most replacement actors. I don't think he's stupid either! He really does take a little while to make decisions, but he might just be looking at the situation from all angles! ^^ I think...that's another quality about him I LOVE!!! His showmanship! And he acts so goofy, sometimes! What's funny is, before last year, in May or June, I hadn't watched that movie in, at least, four years(Dad just happened to mention him, because the only part he can remember is "I marry her!" XD)! Oo And I don't really think I ever hated Grundel, but he wasn't one of my favorite's...And now...I can't get enough of him! ^_^ I've developed a thing for 'bad guy-ish' yet unfairly treated guys. vv Like Onus from Treasure Planet, Lefou, Lampwick...Uhm...there's more...I know it! XD But I think it all started, when I first saw Lilo & Stitch! Stitch and Jumba just rock! But back to the right movie! Ms., well, Mrs., now, I guess, Fieldmouse is definitely the evil one in Thumbelina...I never trusted her... I think Mole is just lonely...like Grundel. One thing that makes Grundel less evil is the fact that he and Beetle provided the comic relief for the film. Well, Gringo and Mozo, and occasionally Mrs. Fieldmouse, did too, but I doubt they had as much impact as the former! vv Usually, women are more evil than men in the movies(well, save for Cartman ). v_v Mostly, you can kinda empathize with the dude villains, because they often had some experience in their lives to make them so sadistic, though, I agree, it does not justify anything...whereas the 'ladies' do it mainly, because they feel like it, or they're just really jealous! X) Gringo and Mozo come off as...well...mean, to say the least, but I think they're just playing the part of aggravating little siblings. I'm surprised they weren't on the credits! I mean Hero was on two of the backgrounds! Two, I tells ya! But I still don't think they'd want their big bro dead. v_v That's why I draw so many pics of them together in a reconcilable manner! Mama Toad is a bit greedy, but I don't believe her to be completely corrupted. I do still wonder where Gringo's and Mozo's floating eyebrows came from! I drew a conception of their father, Rodriguez(basically, Gringo and Mozo, since they look exactly the same, with a goatie), who has them too, because that's the only thing I could think of! XD But I wonder, why Grundel has no eyebrows, because, in certain frames, you can see that Mama Toad clearly has them as well. v_v Well, I'll leave it at that for today and sorry I mentioned so many characters from irrelevant shows! They were for mention-relation purposes only, I can sincerely assure you!

His eyebrows fell down and became his moustache, lol... Yeah I like villains, or even BETTER, villain sidekicks, because they're usually...like, they're not QUITE villain material but they're still "bad", you know? I usually find the sidekicks more interesting. Berkeley took on the role of Grundel's sidekick in the movie, which made him infinitely cooler to me. And yes the scenes with Grundel and Beetle interracting were by far my favorite bits in the movie, that's why I was so sad when I was writing my fic and I couldn't find a way to work Berkeley in as a more major character. Originally Grundel and Berkeley were both going to be helping Cornelius but it just wasn't working, and I ended up liking the chemistry between just Cor and Grundel anyways. I always tell people that if I was actually adapting my story into a real film (I don't think it would make a good one, its just that so many people tell me it would), that I would have to completely rewrite Berkeley's role to make it bigger, because surely they would want Gottfried to take near-top billing, if you know what I mean... Eh, if you want to talk about my story though it should be a separate thread. (I am brainstorming a new one now btw.)

Once again, the eyebrow thing...way, WAAAY too funny(I don't think his eyebrows were as thick as his brothers', though! but, maybe, they just look thinner, because they had to spread across his lips! )!!! You're ornery! XD But...so am I! ^_^ Berkeley made a terrific sidekick, that's a given! v_v ^^ But my favorite scene is still On the Road! XD Ol' Gilbert has definitely gotta be the most well-known actor from that movie by now! X) Well, except for, maybe, Carol Channing, and the guy who played the Mole-man! I cannot for the life of me remember his name! >.< But he's cool! ^^ Sure thing, I'll post on your fanfic topic, when I refer to your story from now on! A sequel sounds great, though! ^_^

Okay! I've been typing for school all week, but it's been cutting into my rambling time! X) So...today's topic...uhm...Berkeley Beetle and his ring! XD Betcha thought I was gonna say the baby bros, huh? First of all, Berkeley is awesome. X) His clothes('cept for, maybe, the poofy pantlegs or whatever they are ), his snazzy flamboyance, and, yes...even his voice! XD Another thing I like is how he actually stood up to Grundel(well, for so long, anyway) who, obviously, has the build of a biped pit bull/mastiff/rottweiler! Whereas, Berkeley only has the build of some kind of skinny minny mutt...XD Maybe...a dachshund/saluki mix(with a touch of doberman for his more feisty qualities )! X) Did ya ever notice how his little 'posse' of four never even attempted to protect him? X) When it pans over, after Berkeley gives his little 'pond patrol' speech, you can clearly see them 'bravely' cowering behind part of the giant, rotten stump! XD Some friends! v_v At least, they helped him along on his 'mission quest'. "See, see, now he takes my wings away! Now I gotta walk to find the prince! If he let me keep my wings, I could fly after the prince, and bring him back in two seconds!" One problem...Grundel needed insurance...v_v If he had no collateral, Berkeley could've easily moved to a different location and just waited for Grundel to leave. But if Grundel has what Berkeley wants...Berkeley's gonna go get for Grundel what Grundel wants so Berkeley can retain what Berkeley wants, even if it means trekking through knee-deep snow( maybe, that's why he's blue)! X) Grundel knows how the game is played! XD Still...-_-' Poor Beetle...Course...I think Berkeley knew all that...he just likes to be dramatic, and rant about everything...X) Although I do not exactly favor his 'buddies', I still think it was pretty cool how they broke the ice around Cornelius! XD Do you think it's coincidental that the beetles in that group all looked exactly the same(maybe, a cloning experiment that messed up the vocal chords, because that one beetle didn't sound much different from Berkeley)? I think it's kinda like Grundel's bros...But even Gringo and Mozo had unique outfits! ^_^ Berkeley's gang even had the same outfits...I mean I know the matching attire was for performance purposes, but it's kinda aggravating to me, when I can't tell one character apart from the other! XD Okay, that's enough for today...X) Just one question, though...Did they even use the term 'toots' back then? I really don't know...Oo All in all...I think Berkeley would rather have hibernated as normal bugs would than gone through that ordeal! X)
